Hello, im considering buying a new video card, but my pc has integrated video card. Some say "if it's in your motherboard you're stuck with it", well would the new video card work if i would buy it or not.

Ok Thank You,
1. Motherboard - MSI, Albacore 1.0
2. Graphic interface - blank
3. Memory - DDR, Single 1024Mbytes
4. CPU - ADM Athlon 64 3400+
5. Stays at 900MHz goes u to 2200MHz
6.- Can't open it now g2g =)
7.- Can't open it now g2g =)
Chipset ATI Xpress 200(RS480) (worst video card i ever seen =))
I would want a video card in a range of 100$ something like:nVIDIA 7600GT 256MB 7600 GT DDR3 PCI-E Video Card
Thanx,

Im guessing this is a pre-built system? because most pre-built systems don'thave a very well known motherboard

What's the brand, make and model of the computer . That way, we can at least try to look up the specs on the manufacturer's website and try to narrow down exactly what options you have. If the board doesn't support AGP or PCI-e, then the only other option you would have is to purchase a straight PCI graphics card, providing the board has an open slot available.

My pc is:
Hewlett-Packard Company
HP Pavilion
ADM Athlom(tm) 64 Processor
3400+
2.19GHz, 960 MB of RAM
Btw my pc has a place for video card(if you meant that).
I would go to circutcity and tell them the type of computer you have and then they might be able to find a better and compatible video card for you =)

About 2 years old, but not older. Well i had 1 pc it's like 6 years old i bought one video card, i think it was 128Mb GeForce Fx 5500 and it worked fine, I didn't even ask any1 if that would work, that guy said any card would work...

oh right.... Well i am certain its a pci-e slot..
Whats your motherboards model number?
Saibokas

Idk what's that but what i think, is it the slot to insert video card?
Idk, CHECK dxdiag plz.

The model number can be found in either of two places:
Somewhere on the front of the case is the model number embossed right into the case.
On the back (or the bottom, depending on the model and plant it was manufactured at) is a label with the model number, tag number and so forth.
This will give us a clue that can tell us which model to look up. The motherboard may not be listed or it may be an HP in-house board, but it should give us the info on pci-e, agp or pci slots available.

a pci-e slot is the slot where your graphics card goes..
Right, open your case and in or near the centre of the mobo it should have a few numbers which is a model number, or if you have your motherboard disk look at that then give me the full name.. like m9 is an asus p5vd2-Mx Se

would 256Mb be better? i heard that express are the one of the worst cards...

Express are the advanced cards o.O All the high end cards you see today are express

So you want to know about PCI Express? PCI Express is a recent feature addition to many new motherboards. PCI Express support can have a big impact on your hardware choices both now and in the future. This article will explain the topic in plain english withoutboring you with useless information.
Common Buses and their Max Bandwidth
PCI 132 MB/s
AGP 8X 2,100 MB/s
PCI Express 1x 250 [500]* MB/s
PCI Express 2x 500 [1000]* MB/s
PCI Express 4x 1000 [2000]* MB/s
PCI Express 8x 2000 [4000]* MB/s
PCI Express 16x 4000 [8000]* MB/s
PCI Express 32x 8000 [16000]* MB/s
IDE (ATA100) 100 MB/s
IDE (ATA133) 133 MB/s
SATA 150 MB/s
Gigabit Ethernet 125 MB/s
IEEE1394B [Firewire] 100 MB/s
Yes and No. A 16x PCI Express connection is at least 190% Faster than AGP 8x but this is the connection between the system and the video card. You use the connection the most when your video card is low on memory or when the game you are using uses a Direct X or Open GL feature that isn't supported in hardware.
Conclusion
PCI Express is an exciting advance in the area of computers. Although AGP is now starting to die rapidly, standard PCI is taking/will take longer to die off. Expect to see at least 1 or 2 standard PCI slots along side PCI-E in all motherboards for at least the next 2 years. By that time there will be PCI-E replacements for all common devices such as modems, network cards, raid cards, i/o and more.
Very sooon it will be all pci-e
pci-e is better in my opinion

Like i understand that express card should be great but then game requires 32Mb card and the game lags, like games san andreas, scarface, lineage 2, it lags on this card...

32mb? 32 MB for VRAM is...really small isn't it?
Jase123

well if you wanted to play games with maxed settings and that you would have to be willing to pay more.
Personally i think that card would be ok for you

no on the lowest settings it lags too, my friend has 64 MB GeForce which he doesn't lag at all.. well what i believe is that express cards are piece of s*** and it doesn't cost much, why they are so cheap?

64 MB of VRAM is also realllllly low. My moms PCI card Radeon 9200 has 126 (I tihnk that was the correct number) Of VRAM, and thats bad =O
