Hello,

I'm getting BSOD at random intervals.

Sometimes when the comp. is idle or when performing a virus scan or on the internet.

The errors recently are 0x24 and 0x50.

Most are relating to wink32.sys.

Any help appreciated.

Cheers

*Have attached last 3 minidumps.

Two of the Minidumps point to ThreatFire

Try this:

Uninstall ThreatFire
Then run the ThreatFire removal Tool

Restart

Install Avira free AntiVirus
Update it, by right clicking the tray icon and select "Start Update"

Run a full scan (you may still have Viruses that Avira will eliminate for you)

Report back with findings :grinthumb

--------------------------

Edit:

By the way there's an email part (2 tick boxes) when installing Avira
(I keep forgetting to press PrintScreen to get a screen dump of this screen too)

Anyway, untick the squares and continue on with the install.
I would be interested to know about the outcome of an updated virus scan, made by you :)

Yes

Do this:

Run CCleaner first

Download Combofix Instructions

  • Download Combofix to your desktop.
  • Double click ComboFix & follow the prompts.
  • A window will open with a warning.
  • When the scan completes it will open a text window. Please attach that log back here.

Whilst waiting for my reply you may want to perform a full Virus scan in Safe Mode
Safe Mode can be accessed by pressing F8 key before Windows starts
Once in Safe Mode, startup Avira and then run a full scan
If I still haven't replied by then, you could also save the Avira log to be also attached to a new reply :)

I finally got a scan to work.

I followed your instructions with Combofix.

Here are the logs.

Cheers

lol :D

Here's some of the list of running processes, and a few more below with Trojans and things like that ;)

SymantecAntiVirus
SymantecFirewall
NOD32 Antivirus

SpywareBlaster
SUPERAntiSpyware
Malwarebytes
Spybot - Search & Destroy

DAEMON Tools Lite

Excuse me for a moment................. :haha:

I'm ok now :)

Um, I think you should backup and then format Windows and start again
Here's the exact steps:

Microsoft's Windows XP Professional Repair Install step by step (* Including Delete Partition)
http://www.windowsxpprofessional.windowsreinstall.com/sp2sp3installxpcdoldhdd/indexfullpage.htm

* Warning deleting the Partition will remove all User data and Windows system files

Solved :grinthumb

Edit:

Oh just in case you have somehow mislaid your Windows CD:

Newegg is selling XP CDs with SP3 already on the disc.

XP Pro: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16832116515

XP Home: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16832116511

Ok. I'll backup now.

Do you know a program that actually deletes everything off the hard drive not just the partition?

Cheers

Hi Josho495,
I've cleaned up a number of your older posts
Double posts
Posting for help in others threads
Not required posts (asking the same question twice, that type of thing ;))

So to double up here again

Please do the above (That you have already agreed to)
Here's a quote too (just from above, a few mins ago)
* Warning deleting the Partition will remove all User data and Windows system files

I'll try to watch out for further threads you make one day
But realistically doing the above, you should be right for months !

Edit:

Thank god you are all done now !!
Oh your reply below was not required, so I removed it
Seeyu
