Packet Loss

Hi, i previously had a windows xp pc with a wirelless g usb network adapter. I was getting a smooth connection. However, when i bought a new pc with windows vista premium, I started experiencing much packet loss. I updated the adapter drivers for vista off linksys' website, but i am still experiencing loss. This has been affecting my online games such as Counter-strike source and Call of Duty 4 where i get kicked from online games due to the PB error "No packet Flow" after 30 seconds.
Is there anything i can do and what may be the source of the problem?
Thanks in advance

first find the game server name or IP address
then get a command prompt (run.>cmd) enter
ping servername (or ip address)
and you will get some timings. if there's no timeout or server not found message, then enter
pathping servername (or ip address)

it will take 200-300 seconds to run the test -- be patient

now you will see exactly WHERE in the network packets are being lost

you can COPY the report and paste into your reply

i tried using command prompt to enter an ip and i get this error. "Ping request could not find host 63.251.20.206:28930. Please check the name and
try again."

When i use Path servername, i get this message "Ping request could not find host 63.251.20.206:28930. Please check the name and
try again.

of course; the :28930 portion is a port number and ping is not to a port, but rather just the ip address.

where did you get the ping 63.251.20.206:28930 info?

try just ping 63.251.20.206 and then pathping 63.251.20.206

btw: 63.251.20.206 is nyc.nuclearfallout.net

on BOTH samples, you losses are are trivial! there's no problem what-so-ever

I suggest that the original high loss rate and disconnect was time and server load related and nothing to do with your setup

those numbers in the third column clearly show losses midstream between you and
the server.

you're good (perfect) for the first five nodes and then it gets into trouble.

the network starting at 4.68.x.x is OVERLOADED.

suggest you pick another server

I am having the same problem with call of duty Waw and maybe Farcry2. On WaW the same happens to me (Kicked by punkbuster...No packet flow...) but I dont have a clue what packets are or antything like that, any help?

Also on call of duty waw i cant join any servers, it w just wont let me click on any servers that i could join, only the ones that are full or no longer availible. Got any ideas?
