Spyware.Cyberlog-X?
Hi all,
I just bought my new computer and installed Norton internet security. Shortly after obtaining the internet through a wireless usb adaptor many popups and system errors have been occurring. Since then I have deleted Norton and installed McAfee. I have two main problems: 1. The error message: 'Critical System Warning!' appears informing me that i have Spyware.Cyberlog-x 2. On startup 'userinit.exe' cannot initialise leaving me with just the wallpaper. I am able to get icons back through Task Manager>Open Process>explorer.exe. -All control panel does not work. I have tried alot of spyware removal, not with much success as my internet is not working (I am writing this from a laptop in direct connection to the wireless modem). SUPER SpywareRemover removed 'Adware.Tracking.Cookie' and 'Trojan.Downloader-CREW' but didnt solve anything. Here is my HJT log: Logfile of Trend Micro HijackThis v2.0.2 Scan saved at 11:59:21 AM, on 7/21/2008 Platform: Windows XP SP2 (WinNT 5.01.2600) MSIE: Internet Explorer v6.00 SP2 (6.00.2900.2180) Boot mode: Normal Running processes: C:\WINDOWS\System32\smss.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\winlogon.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\services.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\lsass.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\spoolsv.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\acs.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\bin\AppleMobileDeviceService.exe C:\Program Files\Symantec\LiveUpdate\ALUSchedulerSvc.exe C:\Program Files\Bonjour\mDNSResponder.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\PIF\{B8E1DD85-8582-4c61-B58F-2F227FCA9A08}\PIFSvc.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\McAfee\HackerWatch\HWAPI.exe C:\PROGRA~1\McAfee\MSC\mcmscsvc.exe c:\program files\common files\mcafee\mna\mcnasvc.exe C:\PROGRA~1\McAfee\VIRUSS~1\mcods.exe C:\PROGRA~1\McAfee\MSC\mcpromgr.exe c:\PROGRA~1\COMMON~1\mcafee\redirsvc\redirsvc.exe C:\PROGRA~1\McAfee\VIRUSS~1\mcshield.exe C:\PROGRA~1\McAfee\VIRUSS~1\mcsysmon.exe C:\Program Files\McAfee\MPF\MPFSrv.exe C:\Program Files\Marvell\61xx\Apache2\bin\Apache.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\nvsvc32.exe C:\Program Files\SiteAdvisor\6145\SAService.exe C:\Program Files\Marvell\61xx\Apache2\bin\Apache.exe C:\WINDOWS\explorer.exe C:\WINDOWS\RTHDCPL.EXE C:\Program Files\iTunes\iTunesHelper.exe C:\Program Files\TP-LINK\TWCU\TWCU.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\PIF\{B8E1DD85-8582-4c61-B58F-2F227FCA9A08}\PIFSvc.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\alrsvcp.exe C:\Program Files\SiteAdvisor\6145\SiteAdv.exe C:\Program Files\Windows Live\Messenger\MsnMsgr.Exe C:\Program Files\Messenger\msmsgs.exe C:\Program Files\SUPERAntiSpyware\SUPERAntiSpyware.exe C:\Program Files\NETGEAR\WG111v2\WG111v2.exe C:\Program Files\Marvell\61xx\svc\mvraidsvc.exe C:\Program Files\iPod\bin\iPodService.exe C:\Program Files\Marvell\61xx\tray\zRaidTray.exe c:\PROGRA~1\mcafee.com\agent\mcagent.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe c:\PROGRA~1\mcafee\VIRUSS~1\mcvsshld.exe C:\Documents and Settings\JB\Desktop\HiJackThis.exe R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = C:\WINDOWS\system32\spywarewarning.mht R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings,ProxyOverride = *.local F2 - REG:system.ini: Shell= O2 - BHO: (no name) - {7F322091-76E3-4869-AD9A-9CA896714279} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\awTLdcYQ.dll O3 - Toolbar: McAfee SiteAdvisor - {0BF43445-2F28-4351-9252-17FE6E806AA0} - C:\Program Files\SiteAdvisor\6145\SiteAdv.dll O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [NvCplDaemon] RUNDLL32.EXE C:\WINDOWS\system32\NvCpl.dll,NvStartup O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [nwiz] nwiz.exe /install O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [NvMediaCenter] RUNDLL32.EXE C:\WINDOWS\system32\NvMcTray.dll,NvTaskbarInit O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [RTHDCPL] RTHDCPL.EXE O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Alcmtr] ALCMTR.EXE O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [AppleSyncNotifier] C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\bin\AppleSyncNotifier.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [QuickTime Task] "C:\Program Files\QuickTime\QTTask.exe" -atboottime O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [iTunesHelper] "C:\Program Files\iTunes\iTunesHelper.exe" O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [TWCU] "C:\Program Files\TP-LINK\TWCU\TWCU.exe" -nogui O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Symantec PIF AlertEng] "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\PIF\{B8E1DD85-8582-4c61-B58F-2F227FCA9A08}\PIFSvc.exe" /a /m "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\PIF\{B8E1DD85-8582-4c61-B58F-2F227FCA9A08}\AlertEng.dll" O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [IEUpdate] C:\WINDOWS\system32\alrsvcp.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SiteAdvisor] C:\Program Files\SiteAdvisor\6145\SiteAdv.exe O4 - HKLM\..\RunServices: [IEUpdate] C:\WINDOWS\system32\alrsvcp.exe O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [MsnMsgr] "C:\Program Files\Windows Live\Messenger\MsnMsgr.Exe" /background O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Steam] C:\Program Files\Steam\Steam.exe -silent O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [MSMSGS] "C:\Program Files\Messenger\msmsgs.exe" /background O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [IEUpdate] C:\WINDOWS\system32\alrsvcp.exe O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [SUPERAntiSpyware] C:\Program Files\SUPERAntiSpyware\SUPERAntiSpyware.exe O4 - HKCU\..\RunServices: [IEUpdate] C:\WINDOWS\system32\alrsvcp.exe O4 - HKUS\S-1-5-18\..\Run: [IEUpdate] C:\WINDOWS\system32\alrsvcp.exe (User 'SYSTEM') O4 - HKUS\S-1-5-18\..\RunServices: [IEUpdate] C:\WINDOWS\system32\alrsvcp.exe (User 'SYSTEM') O4 - HKUS\.DEFAULT\..\Run: [IEUpdate] C:\WINDOWS\system32\alrsvcp.exe (User 'Default user') O4 - HKUS\.DEFAULT\..\RunServices: [IEUpdate] C:\WINDOWS\system32\alrsvcp.exe (User 'Default user') O4 - Startup: MarvellTrayStartup.lnk = C:\Program Files\Marvell\61xx\tray\RaidTray.bat O4 - Global Startup: Adobe Reader Speed Launch.lnk = C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 7.0\Reader\reader_sl.exe O4 - Global Startup: NETGEAR WG111v2 Smart Wizard.lnk = ? Hopefully a new computer will not have much data requiring backing up (if any) How do you feel about that? (Nice and clean and no Norton) Or do you want your new computer, repaired? |

You have a program that is selling bogus software. It is Spyware.CyberLog-X, Trojan-Spy.win32@mx, VirusBurst and is more of a permanent irritant than really serious, but it is a popup that will not go away, although Firefox will usually block it..
You can remove it with Spyware Doctor or SpySweeper, both paid programs, or others listed below. To avoid it, switch to Firefox 2.0 or Firefox 3.o, but firefox will make Internet Explorer not work well. You can get rid of it with the trial download Spyware Doctor 5.5, or the free MBAM Malware Bytes, os SuperAntispyware, then immediately running one or the other again in SAFE MODE, as well as Antivir Antivirus. You might also download and run Adaware 2008. We find that Avir Antivir also works well... but since you have already paid for McAfee... You still have remnants of Symantec installed, which doesn't help. Suggest you download RegCleaner by Viourno at www.majorgeeks.com and remove the rest of Symantec manually. Usually, this scam can be easily removed by running Norton/Symantec Spyware and antivirus, so you might want to check your Symantec downloads and settings there to figger out why they are letting this program through.. Also look at the Free Google Pack.Google Pack which some helpful free software. Good luck. Let us know how it all worked out. |

Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from Here or Here
Double Click mbam-setup.exe to install the application.
If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts, click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process,if asked to restart the computer, please do so immediatly. --------------------------------------------- ComboFix
Caution - do not touch your mouse/keyboard until the scan has completed. The scan will temporarily disable your desktop, and if interrupted may leave your desktop disabled. If this occurs, please reboot to restore the desktop. Combofix is a very powerful tool so please do NOT do anything without instruction Combofix will automatically save the log file to C:\combofix.txt |

For MBAM make sure to delete everything from the Quarantined.
Open MBAM and select the Quarantined tab and delete everything there. Please go HERE to run Panda's ActiveScan

Uninstall ComboFix
The above procedure will Delete the following:
------------------------------------------------------------------ OTCleanit! by Oldtimer
----------------------------------- Now we need to create a new System Restore point. Click Start Menu > Run > type (or copy and paste) %SystemRoot%\System32\restore\rstrui.exe Press OK. Choose Create a Restore Point then click Next. Name it and click Create, when the confirmation screen shows the restore point has been created click Close. Next goto Start Menu > Run > type cleanmgr Click OK, Disk Cleanup will open and start calculating the amount of space that can be freed, Once thats finished it will open the Disk Cleanup options screen, click the More Options tab then click Clean up on the system restore area and choose Yes at the confirmation window which will remove all the restore points except the one we just created. To close Disk Cleanup and remove the Temporary Internet Files detected in the initial scan click OK then choose Yes on the confirmation window. ------------------------------------- The following is a list of tools and utilities that I like to suggest to people. This list is full of great tools and utilities to help you understand how you got infected and how to keep from getting infected again.
