Sound Activated Cold Cathode Lights

Well I have had what I thought to be just a light in my loft the other day and it wasn't until I looked at it I thought it must be more than just a light!

So guess what? I plugged it in!
I then researched it slightly more to find that it must be a Sound Activated Cold Cathode Light!

BUT, here comes the problem! I dont get the Sound Activated bit! I mean it will stay on, then there is the sound setting which when i switch it to the light goes off! Now I guess you need to plug something from the sound card, normally where your speakers would go, into the "In" labelled jack port and the speackers into the "Out" jack?

Am I right? Because if so I need to buy a jack to jack lead or is there a way around it?

Thanks
BAW
