Need upgrade info - Intel centrino core 2 duo (santa rosa)
hey all. first time poster. cool forum! let's see what you've got for me. i'd like to know what my options are as far as upgrading my laptop's processor. i have an intel centrino core2 duo t5450 (codename santa rosa) processor @1.66ghz. i understand this is a socket 775, and i'm seeing lots of different processors in that category - both mobile and not. i'd like to know which of those are compatible with my particular setup. my knowledge of such hardware information is nil.
i have a toshiba a200 w/intel 82801hbm ich8-do chipset. any help is greatly appreciated, thanks in advance. |

Your cpu is not a socket 775, as that is the desktop core 2 duo socket. You would have a socket "P" system. You'd need a core 2 duo socket P processor. I would think you'd be looking at a core 2 duo T7XXX cpu (eg T7300).
Edit: there are also T8XXX and T9XXX series mobile cpus, but I'm unsure of their compatibility, since they're newer 45nm chips. Last edited by vnf4ultra; 08-24-2008 at 06:23 PM.. |

Aha, you are wise. Socket P then. Can anyone tell me about T8/T9*** compatibility with my chipset?
