Possible DNS or Adapter problem?

Hi,

I have a Cable/DSL connection with a router. I have resisted the temptation to make it a wi-fi connection just to preserve the quality of the connection.

Now, this is a peculiar problem I am facing.. Looks like it is a DNS issue.

My connection is ok - it connects on start-up, the router shows all the necessary lights including the ADSL one.


But the webpages do not open. Has my network adapter failed? I tried ipconfig/release but it says that there is no adapter found.

I'll look at the dumps, but you need DHCP to be active;
in the NIC settings, be sure that Dynamic is set for IP address as well as DNS

All be the last are from 08-17 showing four failures that day and then one failure eight days latter.
I would assume you did not use the system during those eight days.

Assuming no changes to the system have been made, then IRQ issues usually implicate memory going bad.

Get a copy of memtest from TS Downloads and test your system

Also check all of your settings for Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari, or Opera. Sometimes the best way is to go back to default and start over.
