Lite-On DVD SOHD-167t problems

System has been put together from spare bits and bobs, the DVD drive came with firmware because it was the same one as i took the HDD from.
Ive updated the firmware too 9S1B and I cant find anything more updated.
When i put my bf2 disk in the drive it doesnt recognize the disk. It did once but my computer crashed, hasnt since. It recognises basically all of my other dvd's even if they wont play due to copyright laws or something like that but at least they are recognized.
I have no idea why it would be just this one disk that doesnt work with my drive, it works perfectly fine on the main computer which has a lite-on drive aswell.
Any solutions would be very appreciated.
cheers
5 minute update: it seems that if i put a dvd in once it will recognize it but not work, then next time i put it in it ceases to exist.
?

If you have Alcohol or a virtual drive installed that may happen with BF2.

Have the disc cleaned at your local DVD rental store

the DVD is fine, practically brand new and it runs perfectly well on my sisters laptop and the main desktop.

Then it must be the Drive with that particular disc
You can also have the DVD Drive cleaned (hopefully you have seen those Disc cleaner packs)
Or change the entire drive over (some read better than others)

Yes,
Sometimes discs warp (when they're full)
Sometimes if you open and close the CD door a few times it will at last read
You can try blowing into the drive, dislodging any dust
You can wash (yes dish wash) the disc, then rinse then clean it, then thoroughly dry

Actually I've used a program call BadCopyPro (just google) but you have to pay for it)

Lastly change the Drive !
