looking for good, reliable virus detection system. Currently operation with macafee. Is it good? and should i just stay with them?

firewall, most of these come with firewalls if you decide not to install a firewall

Tells me my setup is OK. Using AviraAntiVir,Comodo firewall, SuperAntiSpyware,SpywareBlaster,MalwareBytes,WinPatrol,and SpywareGuard. Only problems I have are an occasional cookie( but WinPatrols Scotty loves those).
 
I think spyware guard no longer recieves updates.

someone please confim whether it recieves updates or not

By the way spybot is not for scaning but for its Awesome immunization feature

you should also try spyware doctor as suggested by bobeye

cookies can be bad or good

No,I haven't seen any updates to SpywareGuard in a long time, but I like it and it doesn't use much space or resources.
 
woo hoo thank you all. Kinda made me feel like a dirty person without out proper virus protection :)
