BSOD: STOP: 0x0000007b

Hello

I have a Dell P.C. A friend of mine recently repair my P.C. He purchased me a new hard-drive, which he said was the problem. However, when I received it back today, I returned to the same error screen I saw a couple months back.

A problem has been detected and windows has shut down to prevent damage to your computer.

If this is the first time you've seen this stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps:

Check for viruses on your computer. Remove any newly installed hard drives or hard drive controllers. Check your hard drive to make sure it is properly configured and terminated. Run CHKDSK /F to check for hard drive corruption, and then restart your computer.

Technical information:

*** STOP: 0x0000007B (0xF7A8A524, 0xc0000034, 0c00000000, 0c00000000)

I'm not really tech savvy. I would appreciate if someone could help me with this problem, so I don't have to waste anymore of my mom's money.

Thanks
-Kyle

Let me start reading. Sorry if this has been asked before. I've read over 20 threads in the last hour trying to figure this problem out.

You do realize, that I'm operating from a laptop right now? Not my P.C.

I read everything. Now I'm at a screen saying:

Seial ATA AHCI BIOS, Version iSrc 1.02.23 08012006
Copyright (c) 2003-2006 Intel Corporation
** This version supports only Hard Disk and CDROM drives **

Controller Bus#00, Device #1F, Function #02: 02 Ports, 02 Devices
Port-00: Hard Disk, WDC WD2500AAJS-22VSA0(with a slash in the "0")
Port-01: CDROM, PHILIPS CD-RW/DVD-ROM SCB5265
AHCI BIOS installed

Sorry I'm confused, what are you doing again

Please just update the Dell Drivers
And then after restart, you still get issues, you can also try running Memtest on your Ram
And then if all else fails, attach a Minidump

Wait...

How do I update the Dell Drivers? When I'm not on the P.C? I'm using a laptop because I can't get passed this Black screen right now.

Oh I see, I thought it was intermittent or something

You need to boot from your Windows CD and then select the first R prompt (to go to the Recovery Console)
Then log on to your Administrator account, by pressing 1 and then pressing Enter
Then type this on the command line, and press Enter:
chkdsk c:/f
Then Exit out and hopefully Windows starts normally

If not you may need to Repair Windows:

You want to run in SATA Mode, not AHCI Mode. Check the BIOS to see what options you have for the hard drive.
