Struggling over BSODs
I've been struggling with this computer for weeks. I've replaced every component and re-formatted several times. The BSODs seem like they might be linked to me running Steam?
Here is the information I could find: Problem signature: Problem Event Name: BlueScreen OS Version: 6.0.6001.2.1.0.256.6 Locale ID: 1033 Additional information about the problem: BCCode: a BCP1: EFEF39D0 BCP2: 0000001F BCP3: 00000001 BCP4: 81AFD440 OS Version: 6_0_6001 Service Pack: 1_0 Product: 256_1 Files that help describe the problem: C:\Windows\Minidump\Mini030109-04.dmp C:\Users\Kale\AppData\Local\Temp\WER-41823-0.sysdata.xml C:\Users\Kale\AppData\Local\Temp\WERD181.tmp.version.txt Read our privacy statement: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?link...3&clcid=0x0409 I'll add the zipped dump files once I can convince windows to give me access to them Last edited by kimsland; 03-01-2009 at 06:38 AM.. They are here: C:\Windows\Minidump
Where you can attach them directly, you don't even need to zip them up |

Ah ok, here you go. Thanks for the help.
Just Blue Screened again. I couldn't catch what it said, but it was different. It was BUGCODE_ something. I was literally doing nothing. Here is what windows had to say for that one: Problem signature: Problem Event Name: BlueScreen OS Version: 6.0.6001.2.1.0.256.6 Locale ID: 1033 Additional information about the problem: BCCode: fe BCP1: 00000005 BCP2: 8606B0E0 BCP3: 80862939 BCP4: 86836F64 OS Version: 6_0_6001 Service Pack: 1_0 Product: 256_1 I can't find any new Minidump files though? Are you running Windows Vista on Virtual machine?
These files were sited as the cause (please search Google for these processes) wermgr.exe Steam.exe Rtlh86.sys intelppm.sys (this one twice) |

Steam.exe. I thought so, but there must be a way to also run it.
Not on a Virtual Machine, no. Thanks for the help so far as well |

Please confirm all your Device Drivers are up to date

Device manager reports that they are all up to date. wermgr.exe is Windows error-reporting which I have since turned off. Rtlh86.exe is a Realtek LAN driver that appears to be up to date and functioning properly but I'm looking in to it. The intelppm.sys one is more elusive and I haven't found anything yet.

Actually "intelppm.sys" is what took me so long to reply, and then to be so brief :/

Ok, intelppm.sys is apparently some driver that can be disabled without any ill-effects in Virtual PCs so I decided to give it a shot on this one. It isn't BSODing at regular intervals so I'm not sure if it worked.
I could always start steam I guess... I ran Steam and waited with my camera ready. I caught one in the act. I'm thinking though, with all the different OS installations and replaced hardware I've put in here, surely it can't be a driver or software problem? I've been trying to fix this off and on since November. Drivers and software have been updated since then. Last edited by kimsland; 03-01-2009 at 06:33 AM.. Have a look at:
UPDATED 8-step Viruses/Spyware/Malware Preliminary Removal Instructions By the way if you're running AVG Uninstall your AVG Antivirus Then run the removal tool Here is the 32Bit version (most users): http://www.avg.com/filedir/util/avg_...avgremover.exe Here is the 64Bit version: http://www.avg.com/filedir/util/avg_...removerx64.exe Install (the much better) Avira free AntiVirus And here are the other bad ones, if installed Uninstall Symantec (Norton) Antivirus Run the Norton Removal tool Uninstall your McAfee Antivirus Then run the McAfee Removal Tool |

New BSOD has found me, MEMORY_MANAGEMENT. Seems to be related to the IRQL one.
Attached some more dumps. Also, I have uninstalled AVG I switched the ram with the DDR2 ram that was in my other computer and things seem to be going alright... Last edited by kimsland; 03-01-2009 at 06:33 AM.. Reason: merged 2 posts. instead of replying to yourself use v v EDIT v v |

Quote:
Also, the Ram. Is it now working since been replaced? If not please run Memtest on your Ram (7 passes required) Another point is all these restarts and BSODs, have probably caused cross linked files corruption. Checkdisk for Vista may be a good idea too
