If you're running XP or older i think this download will work for you. Not so sure there is a vista compatible driver

Hi mamipanda

The Device ID for your webcam seems to indicate your webcam needs a driver from Sonix for webcam model SN9C103. Two issues
1) the driver itself seems to be good for Windows 98/ME/2000/XP. So it may or may not work if you have Vista or Win 7
2) But the BIG problem is that all the download links i find all point back to the Sonix web site link here. And the Sonix web site no longer provides a copy of the driver download

If you google SN9C103 download you might be lucky and find a download to try. If you find one that still offers the file for download, please let us know

Good luck!

I'm trying to decide best way to proceed

on the one hand it might be easiest to just buy a new web cam..

Or tell me just what you do to try and install the software from the CD.. and what are the (if any) error messages are you seeing when you do?

Also, try copying the all the files on the CD to a folder on your disk. Then tell me how much storage is needed on disk (if under 200MB i might have you upload the files to free file sharing host so i can see them myself)

Hmmm. from what you describe it makes me wonder if the problem is really the drivers/software or might actually be webcam hardware failure. Let's check the following

1. If Windows thinks there's a driver problem, it will be listed as a Problem Device
  • First make sure all your devices are connected and powered on
  • Click Start->Run, enter: msinfo32. Click the + sign next to Components to expand it
  • Click Problem Devices. Anything appear?
  • If yes, click on it, Ctrl-A to select all, Ctrl-C to copy it, Ctrl-V to paste into next post

2. In Control Panel, look in Add/Remove programs. Do you see an entry that looks like it might be your web cam application?

If you could report on the steps above, and afterwards you might also try uploading your CD to any file sharing site like www.esnips.com or any other you might prefer

So from your last post we know the driver is definitely not installed.

Attempting to reinstall from CD is a good idea... And... I think i may have found something as well (fingers crossed!)

Try to use driver here
> Click the Download tab
> Note you can download from the site for free if you choose to "Download this file by viewing a series of ads". Then click Continue button
> Just keep clicking the No Thanks link (it will appear in lower right corner of each ad) to get to the download
> It will download a .zip file
> Open the zip file then double click on USBPCCamSN9C103_v4.6.6.0_whql.exe to run it
> An install wizard should do the rest

Let me know
p.s. Glad to try and help
