Xbox 360 Arcade units get double the built-in storage

Microsoft is usually tight-lipped when it comes to Xbox 360 hardware updates, but it is no secret that the company does periodic revisions to make its console perform better, fix bugs and lower production costs. The latest such change is more of a technical optimization, rather than something meant to improve performance, but will see new Xbox 360 Arcade units get double the internal storage capacity at 512MB.

Well that's good to here, now if they'd do something about the price of the 120gb add on that would be something.

Now if only Sony would take a cue and update the laughable 256mb of memory that is in the PS3 that would be sweet.

The problem with the 256mb in the PS3 is thats the RAM, not the internal memory card... (Ask developers fanboys, you can bash me but the system is a total disaster to develop on). This is actual memory for saving games and such, as the 360 has always had 512mb RAM in it.

Hahaha, oh yeah, I almost forgot that there was a 360 system that came WITHOUT a built in HDD.

Yeah, I'll admit it. I'm a fanboy of the ps3. I've owned a 360 and after 3 RROD and 3 coffins sent from Microsoft, I had to shoot it (literally) and put it out of its misery. I've never once had that issue with my ps3 and it is still going strong. Seems as if you're also a fanboy though.

See techspot.com/vb/topic128992.html about the shooting.

C'mon guys you should all know by now the PS3 has 512MB of RAM too. The x360 has a shared pool of 512MB GDDR3@700mhz for use by either the GPU or CPU. The PS3 has 256MB of the same GDDR3@700mhz dedicated to the GPU and another separate 256MB of XDR RAM @3.2ghz that is mainly for the CPU(cell) but can be shared with the GPU if coded properly.

Many third party(multiplat) developers have trouble making this work but first and second party devs seem to have it figured out(MGS4, Killzone2, and Uncharted 1&2 say hi)

I didn't say impossible but its taking a long time. If a more impressive collection of games were out for the PS3, I'd be more interested in one. And what exactly is so fanboy about giving statistics? Its not like I was prasing the 360 to be the lord of all consoles, its easier development platform has allowed the releases of quality games in less time.

The reason I got my PSX and PS2 originally was because of the game collections available at the time I purchased my system, and you really would have a hard time arguing that the PS3 has seen a similar collection as of yet. Since Sony plans on keeping the platform around for a while there is a ton of time to fix that, and plenty of time for me to wait for it.

It's like putting sprinkles over your icing! Sweet deal Microsoft.

...I could have said it was about time that they caught up to the Wii's internal storage, but...
