Motherboard for Phenom II X2 550 BE?

Hi, I will buy Phenom II X2 550 Black Edition but I don't know too much thing about motherboards. So I have to choose a motherboard but I don't know which.

AM3 motherboards requires DDR3 but DDR3 rams very expensive. Is there any other method for use this CPU with DDR2 rams?? Could anyone help me?

It depends on what kind of ddr3 you buy. There are relatively cheap ram out there. And you do need an am3 board if I'm not mistaken. What's your budget?

My budget for motherboard is about 130 $.

I see in tech spec reviewers used AM2+ motherboards in all of X2 550 BE reviews. Can I use them too??

Yes you can, there are many many mobos you can use in the am2+ boards, they just require a bios update for your cpu.

Something like this would work

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813131381

Along with this ram

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820145247

Under your budget not including rebates.

The am3 boards support 1333 ddr3 yes that's true, but the am2+ boards support ddr2.

Hi Nthing,
I highly recommend this series of boards
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813136058, here is the cpu support list for it,which includes your x2 550.http://us.dfi.com.tw/portal/CM/cmpro...lse&itemId=542 it has the 750 south bridge as well with th ACC if you want to try your hand at unlocking the other two cores as well. you can also use hi performance DDR2 if you dont want the DDR3, but its an option with the fx series. here is DFI website

Oh one thing to acknowledge is that the mobo I listed above will only support 1 stick of ram per channel at 1066, so if you think you may want to upgrade passed 4 gigs of ram in the future you want to opt for ddr2 800 now.

I really am a fan of DFI, super. been using them alot the last two years in builds for folks who want hi performance, as well as three of my own machines, swear by them . I really like the 790(soon to be 850) chipset, and yes they are multiple pcie, and I really like the spacing of them, and board layout as well, BTW, not diss'en your recommendations , just offrering an alternative,
