Rumors of a new PlayStation 3 console are running rampant today – whether it’s the slimmed-down version or a higher capacity model remains to be seen but it definitely feels like something’s cooking over at Sony. The latest bit comes as what appears to be an internal document from 7-Eleven (which sells video games in Japan) that suggests Sony may be about to discontinue the 80GB PS3 in its home country.

Maybe they ought to try and sell the bazillion they have gathering dust in store shelves and in warehouses first.

Sony - at one time arguably the greatest console maker with the PS2 - has now become the poster child for "how not to run a gaming console company."

Now a lot of gamers can now drink from the cherished stable. I hope this is true,... rumors are becoming unbearable.

they had better not bring out a new ps3 , the ps3.10 or something , with better technology , that would be treacherous for current ps3 owners , a slim model I could live with as I don't see the big deal with it . maybe there gearing up for a big price drop and expect sales tn soar.

if sony drops the price to $199 both micro$haft and nintendo are ****in toast. neither can compete on any level and with the wand coming out in the spring both the wii and the shitbox will become worthless paperweights
