Help, blue screen of death error (BSOD)
Hi All,
I desperately need some help here with my IBM thinkpad which restarts frequently with the Blue screen of death. This has been happening for almost 2-3 months now. It works fine normally but suddenly out of nowhere it reboots. I managed to get an error code description and this is what it said: Event Type: Error Event Source: System Error Event Category: (102) Event ID: 1003 Date: 11/23/2009 Time: 5:34:18 PM User: N/A Computer: SANDY257 Description: Error code 100000c5, parameter1 00000000, parameter2 00000002, parameter3 00000000, parameter4 8054afcb. Well Avast! Antivirus faulted, so maybe start with uninstalling that
I use free Avira Antivirus and find it works perfectly well You could also have Malware on your system, and since you are still at XP SP2, its probably likely Have a look at going through this guide: http://www.techspot.com/vb/topic58138.html But if you need your logs checked, you'll have to create a new Topic in the Virus & Malware removal forum And when you can, update to SP3, probably when no Antivirus or personal firewall (or obviously Malware) is installed (then install Antivirus after that) |

Um, exactly the same as above, on these older Minidumps (than you posted earlier)
Here is the file mentioned if that helps: aswSP.SYS So, you didn't want to take my advice? Or do you just want a second opinion? I'd be interested myself on what other opinion could be made ![]() You can read HERE on howto analyze your own Minidumps if you like

Your error is 0x000000C5: DRIVER_CORRUPTED_EXPOOL
An attempt occurred to touch invalid memory at a process IRQL that is too high. This is almost always caused by drivers that have corrupted the system pool. If you’ve recently installed any new software, check to see if it’s properly installed; and check for updated drivers on the manufacturer’s web site. The driver cited as your issue is aswTdi.sys which is an Avast TDI filter driver belonging to the Avast software Network Shield. So this confirms kimsland's diagnosis and advice. (I run Avast on 2 laptops and a second rig and I have never had issues. Two systems run XP with SP3) However your continuous issues with this software could indicate it is corrupted. Questions: Are you running any other security software? Have you always ran Avast and if not what have you had previously installed? |

Remove all power (Power adapter and main battery out)
Disconnect any externals ie Network cables; USB connections etc Hold the thinkpad's ON button in for 20 secs (dispersing any power) Added step: Re-seat the Hard Drive, by removing and re-attaching it Put the Power adapter back in only (and turn on power source) Turn ON the Thinkpad, did it work? If so, shutdown the thinkpad normally, the re-insert the main battery Turn back on

Your error is 0x00000077: KERNEL_STACK_INPAGE_ERROR
A page of kernel data requested from the pagefile could not be found or read into memory. This message also can indicate disk hardware failure, disk data corruption, or possible virus infection. It specifically cited memory corruption as your issue. See this link and follow the instructions: http://www.techspot.com/vb/topic62524.html If you want to see what the Memtest screen looks like see reply #21. Make sure you run the test for a minimum of 7 Passes. There are eight individual tests per Pass. This takes a long time but well worth it. If you have any errors you have corrupted memory that needs to be replaced. * Get back to us with the results. * Also, it would be a very good idea to check for infections and to run a harddrive diagnostics as well. The HD diagnostic utility can be found at your harddrive manufacture's website. |
