Once I restart the damn thing, I recieve this in a dialogue box:

The system has recovered from a serious error.

A log of this error as been created

Is it AVG Free?

Why not uninstall it
Then run the Remover Tool: http://www.avg.com/filedir/util/supp...remover_en.exe
Then Restart

Then download and install Free Avira: http://www.free-av.com/
Update it, and run a full scan

I recommend Free Avira, that's what I use

And if I'm allowed to help you with my experience and vast information gathered over many years of technical support and Malware removal, then yes I recommend it

As stated, I am new to all this. And may I apolgise if I caused any upset asking you the last question. Obviously your experience is what I require to get my PC going properly again, I have unistalled AVG Free and run the AVG removal tool, Avira is at present running a scan as directed, all updates were done before running the scan. Thanks again, lets see how we do?

No probs jase, just that I usually have a debate at this point with Why? And where do you base this info from? Blah blah blah. And so I just posted the above (not directly at you, just everyone )
Why can't a support person post info on their experience anywway? Note this is rhetorical
