Strange Sound Problem: HP dv4 1131tx with Ubuntu 9.04

Hi,
I have just installed Ubuntu 9.04 on my HP pavilion dv4 1131tx laptop. Its on a dual boot with Vista.Sound works fine in vista. But in ubuntu following happens:
1.at the login screen some strange sound, not login music or anything, starts coming from speakers, which settle down after few mins or goes off if i mute the sound.
2.but when i try to play any song(obviously after un-muting) or anything, all plugins are installed,no sound comes.

Can anybody suggest a fix soon? Please.
Thanks in advance...

PROBLEM SOLVED:
Just added following lines at the end of /etc/apt/alsa-base.conf

options snd-hda-intel model=laptop enable=1 index=0
alias snd-card-0 snd-hda-intel
alias sound-slot-0 snd-hda-intel
options snd-hda-intel model=dell-m4-1
options snd-hda-intel enable_msi=1
