Usefulness of System Restore Point.
Hi there,
I'm just wondering how this help corrupted partition or corrupted MBR etc... By default, Windows XP enabled all drives. This can eat up a quite a bit of meg storage space. Usually, I removed other drives restore point, apart from Windows and limit the storage space. Unless you got plenty of gig left. ps. an ultimate solution if you got infected with viruses, restore system restore point...voila the viruses gone... correct me if i am wrong... :bounce: |

The only real use System Restore has, is that sometimes it can fix problems caused by corrupted drivers or settings. There are many problems that do not fall into that category however, which makes it useless in most cases.
It can also be a double edged sword if you get a virus on your system, which is why you should always disable it before removing a virus. If your system makes a restore point while it is infected, it is likely that the virus will be saved and would be returned to the system if you used that restore point at a later time. Also, restoring to before a virus infected your system rarely works because of the fact that many things on the system are not removed by a restore(including most virii) |
