The chip is on the outer edge of the board under the HDD slot.
I can't email as you didn't leave an address, if you private message me with your email I will send you a pic with the location

As a follow-up to this information.... when unlocking my D600 using Paragon33's useful information, I found that shorting pins 2 and 6 at boot got me onto a screen that said 'F1 to continue, F2 set-up'. After I pressed the F1 button, it booted straight into windows, and now seems to have forgotten that it ever had a password protecting the bios. I had to try this procedure a few times before it worked for me; as a matter of interest, shorting out the pins 'willy nilly' did get me the administrator screen but, when i pressed Fn - X it did not do anything,(I'm not saying pressing Fn-x wont work like Paragon33 says, it just seems to be a case of trial and error).

Thanks Paragon33-this was very useful information.

Hi Ted

I can't do that, 2 reasons

1)the site I host is down for now until...
2)if you knew where the pics came from... lets just say that I don't want to break the law..

Have you actually bothered to attempt to find it, or would you like me to come round and do it for you, I will help but I expect you to at least try to help yourself .

When you have made an attempt please post back and let me know if you need help,

As for the site...had you bothered to read it , you would have seen that I have grown tired of giving help without getting at least something in the way of feedback in return, there has to date only been a handful of people who have bothered to say thanks for the help from the 1200 people who have been to the site,

So sites closed for now until further notice

Location of EEPROM chip 24CO2N in a Dell c610 (Hi-Res pics)

Hey guys thought is about time I posted some pics of the 24CO2N chip location in a Dell c610.

DIMM Cover (1MB)
DIMM Cover off (1.90MB)
UPW1/DIMMS (0.96MB)
UPW1 (1.04MB)

The component ID on the motherboard for the 24COxx chip is UPW1.

Im not sure what other mother boards have the same chip location but i think dell Insparation 8000's are the same...

As for the shorting

**** manufacturing mode level 1 ****
Press Fn-x to continue

or something like that.

I think it’s down to chance when you apply the short thro boot screen; you seem to just have to get it at the exact right moment to clear the chip.
Might be an idea to post what boards are the same as a c610 if any1 knows...

Cheers all!

The C800/810/840 and Inspiron8000/81000/8200 chips are all in the same location; the C610/Inspiron 4100 are the only one using its specific location although the C640/Inspiron 4150's chip is fairly close.

Dell Latitude CPi 300A

This message is for paragon... your website is down... i am assuming that you got sick of no feedback on the "Software" for removing the passwords.

I am more than willing to give input on my laptop if it works or doesnt work... i just aquired a 40GIG laptop HD and can use my old lappy drive to load the software onto it.

cheers mate

Ha Someone who actually bothered to read the page, The site is not Paragons per se, I run it under his name as it would have been unfair to take any credit for the information on it.

But yes it's down as I have over 1200 hits and no feedback, but I will reinstate it today, with a request for feedback so try again and it should be back up.

Ok the sites up and I have reset the Hit counter , I'm watching....

No, just spinning my wheels until we get the "slicing & dicing" date settled. I noticed you had closed down the website and can not say I blame you; a little appreciation and feedback to it would have been welcome and helpful.

Hi, Could you please tell me where the chip is on my Inspiron 1150?
I have searched the forum with no luck. I have the grey screen at power up & can get no further. I bought the paper clip, but have not been sent the email yet.
Thanks for any help.

Thanks for any help.

Wont make much difference, it doesn't include the 1150 only the 1000.

I know I have the Dellpass manual, best hang on a minute I'm sure someone may know.

Have you actually done a hunt for it, it's half the fun after all and most of the achievement if you find it yourself, then you can post in here and tell us all where it is.

It has been a while since I did one, but is on the bottom side and not far from the RAM slots. You will need to remove the board from the bottom plastic chassis, use 4 double ended screws from the ports on the back(or spares)as temporary anchors for your HeatSink screws to hold it in place to prevent CPU overheating while you do the job.
