Cannot install any microsoft games

Hello all,

I have a problem when trying to intall any microsoft games.
Every time I try to install Age of Empires 2, Microsoft Flight Sim or
Mechwarrior 4
to this locatcion: E:\Program Files\etc.
I get this message:

"The path you selected specifies an in invalid drive or the folder is
invalid, incomplete, too long, or write protected. Enter a full path with
the drive letter"

But I have installed many other non microsoft games like Medal of honor and
Battlefield 1942 under the same drive letter and never encountered a problem
like this before.

What should I do?

Hello Canonz,

I encounter the same problem. As soon as I want to install a MS game and try to alter the default directory the install window comes back with:

"The path you selected specifies an invalid drive or the folder is invalid, incomplete or too long, or write-protected" etc.

Even retyping the original default directory doesn't help any more. The only way out is abondoning the installation and restarting all over again. That way the installation is of course only possible in the default directory.

Were you able to solve the problem?

Hello Canonz,
I know it's been a long time since You posted.
But I'm having the same problem with My maxtor hd.
Except some programs install and others don't.
And when I googled the error message.
Some of the people with the problem had maxtor hd's with partitions.
So I was wondering if Your hd was a maxtor?
And did You get Your problem fixed?

Thanks
