Networking 2 XP laptops - Problems

Hi, I'm trying to network a compaq laptop to a toshiba laptop, which are both XP but I'm having some difficulty. Nothing seems to work. I've connected them using an ethernet crossover cable. Can someone help please?

Hi

What's not working?? File Sharing? Have you tried windows network setup wizard? checked the cable isn't faulty?
Please let us know some more details
