Need some assistance on picking a CPU

well im building a new comp and this is the first time im actually buying the parts myself
so im a bit stumped on what CPU i should buy for this board

Abit AN7 Motherboard
ATX - NVIDIA nForce2 Ultra 400 - AMD - Athlon 64 - DDR SDRAM - 3 GB RAM Supported - 5 PCI Slots

also um...if anyone could keep in mind im kinda poor lol but i would like to find something good but not crappy ^^

I think most any socket a cpu would work. I think they make up to 3200+ barton core cpus. There also are semprons which are cheaper.

Contrary to what your linked website is saying, that motherboard does not support Athlon64s. You'd need an AthlonXP or any other Socket-A CPU as vnf4ultra said.
