BSOD Errors Minidumps Attached

Hi all .My PC is a 6 month old Pentium 3.2 gig with 2 x512 meg of Kingston Ram.

Everything has run fine until the last few weeks when I started getting occassional blue screens at boot.

In the last few days I have been getting them daily but the system sometimes will boot normally but in checking the the event viewer dump file it will show the same stop error message as when it blue screens. Always the crash address is the same. The system never crashes during a window session only at startup.

I have run memtest overnight 3 times but do not get any error messages. I have also reseated the ram but they still occur.

I have attached the minidumps if someone could look at them please.

Hi Bob,

All the minidumps are crashed with all the same symptom. Maybe it is software error at Noton AV.

http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT...pen&dtype=corp

If the problem is not related to Norton AV, report the problem to Microsoft.

Debug Report
BugCheck 1000008E, {c0000005, bf80d278, f6cb0778, 0}
DEFAULT_BUCKET_ID: DRIVER_FAULT
Probably caused by : win32k.sys ( win32k!LockObjectAssignment+a )

thanks cpc2004 I think you solved it.

I tried disabling all the Norton/Symantec services and the stop errors ceased immediately. I then rebooted a number of times and found no new stop errors in the event viewer anymore.

Interestingly I have now re-enabled all the Norton services and rebooted a few times but the stop errors have not returned???

At least I know what was causing it now.

Thanks again.
