detecting proxy settings

well i used to use my laptop on the schools net server, jus unplug the lan from another system plug in and away.
but now they done somethin so that when i click internet exp, a page comes up saying proxy settings not valid, please consult admin and aquire them. my laptop is on auto detect proxy settings but still no luck, anyway round this?

System specs
See what the proxy settings are in the other system you just unplugged?

It may also be that you need to authenticate yourself before being able to use the proxy.

cant do that its a networked pc with extremly limited access
