I figured the fan wasnt strong enough so I pulled it off but while I was unplugging the fan I noticed that one of the plugs was loose so I tightened it back up and reinstalled everything. Now I am idling at 51c which isnt great but the sound is awesome. I can actually hear my hard drive spin now. I dont play any games and my wife uses the computer more than me. I really live by my laptop. Now I can watch tv and not listen to my computer humming behind me.

Thank God I finally decided to buy this. Oh, btw at full cpu usage the temp creeps up to 54c. Not that bad. I bet there are alot higher temps out there.

Heatsink Reviews....46 of them

Hey gang,

Found this at Legion Hardware. They test 17 manufactures and 44 HSF combo's, there should be something there to please everyone. Enjoy.

Thanks STV, I remember that too, wish more would do shoot-outs like that but I can't imagine the time and effort to test 46 of them.

i recommend the new zalman heatsink and fan combos. They are exteremely efficient, and if your'e not number crunching all day or playiing Unreal , they run in silent mode too. Although they're not cheap (£30 in the UK), They do look a little special, especially if you want something that looks trick....
Go to the bottom of this page to see them

I've got one in my system although i did struggle to get it all in my midi case.....

I would love to simply win one!!! I've been looking but all the contests giving them away seem to be over. Anyone know of a site that is having a giveaway or contest like our beloved 3DS???

LOL

Yeah, I know I need to get a quality one, but I'm just lazy and a little intimidated. I'll get one that Volcano 7+, I've heard lots of good things about it. I've also been thinking of upgrading my chipset fan because I think it's hindering my overclocking ability. I was thinking of get this beautiful little baby.

Any of you guys got any better chipset fans I might want to look at???

Well, you may want to get the HSF first and see how much room you have around the chipset before you invest in a cooling kit for it. I bought a Swiftech 462 and a TT Blue Orb kit and after installing the Swiftech I didnt have enough space to install the Blue Orb kit. Your mobo may be layed out different from mine so you may be all set..Just a word of precaution.

Hmmm...I think your right svtcobra, my chipset is pretty close to my current heatsink. I think I'll heed your advice and hold out on the chipset fan for now. It does look nice though...

They do look nice in there but I also wonder just how much performance you'll gain in the oc'ing arena with a fan on your chipset..

Don't really know cobra??? I still think it runs too hot though so a little more cooling never hurt.

Plus it looks really cool!

As long as it adds a certain level of functionality then it may be worth it..I probably could have modified the cooler I bought to fit on there with my HSF but I didnt think it was worth doing so.
