Anyone know if GTA 3 is actually coming out for the PC? I have heard rumours that it will not be released. Anyone able to shed any light on this???

Goto www.rockstargames.com and click on the games icon (4th one in on little flash menu bar) to list all the games....
Hover over Grand Theft Auto 3 and you will see that under platform it says "Playstation(R)2, PC".

Also at their site just for GTA3 they have confirmation....

GTA3 multiplayer

From Shacknews, who got it from VE, who got it from PC Gamer hehe:
http://www.shacknews.com/onearticle.x/19134

"Rockstar quietly let the world slip a few weeks ago that GTA III was coming to the PC. A key feature will be support for 16-person multiplay, and the PC version will also sport better textures at a much nicer resolution. The mouse/keyboard setup will be instantly familiar to third-person-action fans, too. We're definitely looking forward to this one"

This could only be a good thing. This should be a great port and I cant wait for it to get here .

Re: GTA3 multiplayer

That's really good news! Perhaps this is the birth of a new genre in PC games BTW, wasn't there a lot of protests when GTA3 was announced due to the bloody nature of the game?

Multiplayer should prove to be an interesting experience

I think there was quite an uproar. For instance I would buy loads of ammo then stand on a van in a multistorey car park and peer over the wall into the street beyond and shoot hundreds of pedestrians, cops, vehicles, army etc... Not that I am a homicidal maniac or anything.

One of the things I liked most about GTA3 were the unique jumps.
There were so many per section of the city which you were rewarded with extra cash if you made the stunt/jump and landed safely afterwards. They were great fun. Ambulance missions were a bit dull though, this was where you stole an ambulance and played at being a paramedic (had to go and pick up patients and transport them to the hospital with a time limit). Still the mission variety made this game fun. Sniping, driving, blowing up, chasing, tailing and on and on

I am really looking forward to Unreal Tournament II. I have had a blast with Unreal Tournament for the past two years; if UT II is half as fun, this will be a big hit.

Tells ya one thing DNF better rock
because it has taken twice as long as any one elses 2nd product.

UT sounds like it is on its way to a second version.

Duke 3d was like a 1996 product right we are fast approaching a decade. what keeps 3drealms in business with no major source of income.

Agreed. I hope it won't be a Daikatana like game. An ultra hyped about game last time which failed to deliver.

Is 3DRealms still alive? Haven't heard from them for years. They're developing DNF rite?

Ahem... perhaps Max Payne! produced by 3D Realms, development work by the Finnish company, Remedy Entertainment.

Your assumption is based on the belief that they've only produced one single popular game. 3D Realms Entertainment is a division of Apogee Software Ltd *.

Fact is, they are a very diversified company, having produced a few dozen games in the fps-adventure-roleplay-pokémon-kiddie genres. Along w/ being a multifaceted pioneer and innovator in the PC gaming industry.

More Action from 3DRealms?
by Julio @ 4:58 PM - [Comments]

http://www.3dspotlight.com/

Saw on the Shack a note about this article posted at Gamasutra that indicates that 3D Realms will probably be announcing a new game at this year's E3. There is still no word if the game is being developed in-house or is just a project 3D Realms is involved with (Max Payne for example). If you ask me, I would say I'd rather having Duke Nukem Forever being finished ASAP, but given the circunstances, I would say a "re-announcement" of Prey would be cool...

George [Broussard] and I have studied and discussed characters for almost a decade, and finally in the last 5–6 years we think we've put together the key pieces of the puzzle better than anyone else in this industry. A bold statement, maybe, but consider that we planned Max to be the next great male action character and franchise from day one of the games design, and guided Remedy (the developers) in the key ways to make it happen. And we're going to do it again with two more coming game characters, Bombshell (appearing first in Duke Nukem Forever before starring in her own games), and another game I can't announce yet (wait for E3 2002).

Sounds neat, but the sad thing is that it's not true, according to Scott Miller at 3DRealms: "No one announced anything. Since I wrote the quotes used in that Gamasutra article, six months ago, we've cancelled one project, and going back a year ago, another big external project was cancelled for the PS2. The stuff George wrote is several years old, I believe, published in a book that came out in 1999. This stuff happens all the time. It's damn well funny to see it pop up now as if it was news. ;-)" (http://www.shacknews.com/onearticle.x/19323)

Hm, perhaps it's best that they concentrate on DNF anyway...

Morrowind

Well, it's upcoming (supposedly in April), but not a fps - rather a fprpg. A HUGE world with awesome graphics and interactivity. If the gameplay matches the screenshots it should be a Game of the year-contestant. We'll see. As I'm rather tired of the fps-formula I'm really looking forward to it - the immersion of firstpersonshooters coupled with, hopefully, the depth of a great rpg.

Official site: Morrowind.
