Ok heres the thing i just brought the sims 2 and i installed it fine but when i try to run it loads and then a box comes up with the message "The ialmrnt5 display driver has stopped working normally....". I check my driver version which is 6.13.10.3514 and seeing as Intel now have 6.14.10.4020 i tried to upgrade it by downloading the driver form Intel'swebsite. When you install new graphics card drivers, you have to uninstall the old one first. Did you do this?

That said, I don't think your system meets the minimum system requirements for the game. Your graphics "card" doesn't support transform and lighting and the minimum RAM required is 256MB. You have 238. I'm not sure if that includes the RAM that your onboard video is tying up.

How do you install the drivers?

Need help to install/upgrade the Intel 82852/82855 video drivers on my Toshiba notebook A15-S157, running Windows Xp sp2.

I downloaded the drivers from the Toshiba site mentioned in a previous post.

You mention to uninstall the existing drivers first; How?

I tried the following and it did not work:

Went to Control Panel / System/ Harware/Device Manager/ Display Adapters / Intel 82852/82855 / properties / drivers / uninstall.

After that the system rebooted; on the way up it found new hardware and installed the driverts that I just had uninstalled!

Thanks for your help.

To repeat the answer I gave in the PM you sent me: Uninstall graphics card drivers through the Add or Remove Programs in the Control Panel. Going through the Device Manager "removes" the device (not driver) from the system. When you restart and the device is still there, Windows detects the "new hardware" and reinstalls the existing driver. So in your case, nothing ended up changed.

On the other hand removing the device in Device Manager can solve some problems, just not yours.

What you do is uninstall the old driver (through Add/Remove), restart, cancel Windows attempt to install a generic driver, install the new driver and restart one more time. Be sure to have the new graphics driver on hand BEFORE you do all this.
