Emachines not recognizing AGP Video

I have an e-machines T3104 with onboard video. Bought an nVidia FX5200 AGP card with 256M memory. I cant get it to work. E-machines said to install the driver first: no go - it said no hardware compatible with the driver. I popped in the card and tried to reboot -- nothing. Monitor just black. So doesnt matter which I try to install first, Im screwed. Seems E-machines have something of a reputation regarding this issue.

Help?

Try this:

-Take out the new card and then boot into safe mode
-In your device manager, find the onboard graphics and delete the drivers for it.
-Shut off computer, and install 5200. Plug the monitor cable into the 5200.
-Boot up into your bios and look for the settings to change from onboard to AGP. All bios are different so I can't tell you exactly what to look for, but something like "init boot display" is common.
-Save changes and boot into windows. You system should recognize new hardware and ask you for the drivers. Install the drivers for the 5200.
