I run Diskeeper 9 for Workstation. My HDs are way bigger, I have way more files that that Whitney guy, and my Diskeeper 9 runs WAY faster than his product.
Diskeeper has come a long way since the V4 that he tried out!
I would not trust my HD to an amateur! If he were any good, his product would have been marketed by now!

defrag is a precious / dangerous process. there's only ONE right way to
suffle the disk sectors and STILL survive a power failure in the middle of the
operation. If it will not survive such a nasty condition, I would never use it.

System specs
I run diskeeper as well. No problems. I have never heard of a defragger causing premature hard drive failure. I suppose it's possible, but by the time that happens, your hard disks are already old.

If you want to try a program that is fast reliable and Free.
Go here "http://www.majorgeeks.com/Power_Defragmenter_GUI_d4647.html "
Grab 'Power defragmenter" Read install instructions because it is just a GUI for" Contig " from Sysinternals (Also Free download)http://www.sysinternals.com/Utilities/Contig.html
Baisically you put these two files in the same Folder>
I just place a short cut on my desktop pointing to PD and it has been great

I use Ashampoo Magic Defrag, it works in the background while the system is idle, and pauses when you start working. It's great, no problems at all.
