Hum, I installed it no problem 32 bit (x86) on my laptop and P4 3.2ghz machines and 64-bit (x64) on my X2 Computers.

In the gallery here I have pics of Vista from my laptop wide screen. But after a little BF2 I will be posting 1280x1240 pics of other random thingsin Vista.

Anyone installed the 64bit version? I have it burned but I think I will install it on a older IDE drive. Will it fit on a 6.4gig drive?

I also install Vista Ultimate build 5384 x32. Went flawlessly. Looks sweet.

Here are some pictures I took of the initial install with no customizing.

http://www.zacksdomain.com/vista

The JPGs that is, never mind the rest of the files.

So far I like it and everything, some of the new features are like wizbang OOO, AAAA, but I imagine, just like "Security Center" now, it'll soon become the first things you turn off on a new install.
You know? I like the security warning that pops up and locks the screen until you allow something, but I can see how that will become increasingly annoying to deal with while you are trying to work.

And the new interface, I haven't decided yet if that will increase or decrease productivity. Cause now I can zip around Windows and go where I need in seconds. But in Vista it seems the layouts might be trickier to get around in. I'm sure that will change with time, I'll get faster

The sidebar is cool, but I'm sure that, too, will be one of the first things to go as time goes on. Except for the notepad and currency calc, I don't have a use for the rest. And I like their little game with the 15 numbers, I build a game like that in Visual Basic, I beat theres in like 50 seconds or something close.

Anyway, I'm having fun with it, though I probably will NOT be an early adopter when it hits the shelves. I'll wait for the first service pack and until all the software doesn't have "beta" on the name. Such as their IE and Media Player.

Was playing around with the built-in "Media Center", was able to play a DVD, though playback functions were weird. When fast forwarding and rewinding, the video would slow and become out of sync with the audio, and pausing and playing around with it would get it back in time.

It automaticly installs a duel-boot dos batch file that lets you go into wich ever windows you want(xp, Vista).

But I have mine on two seperate drives. Also Vista does not let you install direct x 9.

I get the quick "loading setup files" which it completes in about 30 seconds, then it moves to the "copyright 2006 microsoft" with the moving bar, as if it is loading but it stays there forever. The bar keeps moving, but I have waited up to 30 mins and it never gets past that.

(yes, I have a 64bit CPU)
Same thing here.

32 bit does the same thing!

At least it will boot from XP(32bit), but I need to make a partition first. It needs over 8 gigs, so a 15 gig partition is a good idea. It's not worth installing X-64 just to install Vista 64 bit. I guess it's SATA2 drivers or something???

X64 is faster, but more system hungry.

Vista allows you to do all the partition you need.

Hmm. Before I could download it, I remember it asking me for my MSN account name and password, then it automatically sent me the product key to my hotmail account.

I think you may have to first FREE up that space with a program like Partition Magic. I haven't read or heard that Vista can rearrange partitions like that. I think it already has to be empty space. Not 100% sure.

Hardly. This is from my install (the right window has the ProgramData and two Program Files directories selected):

After spending an hour online looking for a product key MS emailed it to me. Ive got the 64bit version installed and so far it works perfectly but kind of slow. Thats with an Athlon 64 3700, 2 gigs of RAM and a 7900GT video card. The only problem is the video driver from nVidia crashed everytime I tried to install it but Im still able to play the Quake 4 demo with everything cranked up.
Does Vista look alot like OS X??? And the license is good for a year. When I was testing XP, the RC's were only good for 90 days. At least testing Vista doesnt look like the nightmare XP was. I stayed with 2000 Pro for an extra 2 years after that.

I'll wait for the first service pack, and for most peripheral manufacturers to update their drivers before I jump on the band wagon. Or at least until there are stable drivers for my nVidia chipset and ATI video.

I was curious about my own space usage. This is the x32 and I haven't installed anything yet really.

Windows folder - 6.91GB
Program Files - 512MB
