Larry Flynt, Gov. of California??
From Fox News, Larry Flynt, the publisher and owner of adult magazine Hustler to run for governor of California? Now wouldn't that be a hoot. I know not really TechSpot material, but I couldn't resist this.

That's nearly as stupid as Jerry Springer trying to run for the U.S. Senate......I think its sad that people like this would even have a chance at being a leader....

The only thing wrong with Larry Flynt running for governor is the prejudice he's facing. He could have plenty of potential to be a good governor, we have no idea. I'm surprised people didn't feel the same way about Bush when running for president. People should have forsaw him invading an oil-rich middle eastern country under false pretenses because he wanted access to oil.
I do like that quote at the bottom though

he withdrew x
but, hey, ................it's a free country...........and, there probably isn't soneone more aware of that than flynt, especially with all the court time he's spent trying to prove just that..........regardless, the country lets you write it off a some big spending spree and that is probably his real designs...........ronald reagan started it, by being a huge success.............then came jesse ventura...........now it's commonplace..........schwarzenegger would have been great.............but, believe it or not, the opposing party was hoping he'd win..............as they believed their best chance was against him..............riordan will probably get the call..........as they keep feinstein, behind the curtains just in case

Looks like Arnold Schwartzanegger has signed up for governor of California, but look who else, Gary Coleman, the little guy (about four feet tall) on the TV show Different Strokes. They'd have to build a special podium for him. Can you picture Arnie, what 6'6", maybe, and Gary, 4' something, as Gov. and Lt. Gov. Didn't have time to post a picture, but it's on CNN homepage when I wrote this.

Yeah I heard that on the way to work this morning. I found it quite comical personally. I don't know of that many people that would be too inthralled in having Arnold as their governor, but I guess it worked for Jessie Ventura

The news I've seen say that its Arnolds election to lose, basically he has to do something stupid to not win, at least thats what they were implying. He actually has more expierence than people think, he's set up some after school programs or something.
I just don't know how intellegent of a guy he is though. But hey, can't do much worse than Davis can you? |

he has the advantage of
coming from the ground up...........and he's as sharp as they come..........they we're saying the democrats thought they could defeat schwarzenegger, but not riordan.........i don't see it............we've always voted for an actor, why stop now........but, on the serious side, i think he'd be great.........think of it..........arnold, as president

Arnold will win; most people around these days aren't very political and are heavily influenced by the movies Arnold has starred in. This angers me quite a lot, but then I remember that Mr. Schwarzenegger is supposed to be quite a political person, so all is not lost. The situation could be worse if someone like Jerry Springer was running for governor, as the trailer trash that roam our country would unfortunately have the right vote for the dumba$$.
There should be precautions taken so that uneducated people are not able to vote as there could be severe consequences about things as serious as this, but then again, it's just a governor position. |

I agree, Arnold will likely win.
He is a smart moderate Republican with excellent name recognition. I was surprised he didn't run against Davis in the last election. Aronold for President: All it would take is an amendment. Anyone remember the movie Demoliton Man? ![]() C |

Just had a thought. What if Governer Davis resigned before the recall. Would the Lt. Gov. take over and all this recall stuff be moot. Things carry on as normal? Or would the Lt. Gov. be recalled also.
As little as I know about the whole situation, it sure looks like the people of California will be paying for this fiasco for a long time to come. By the way, just noticed "Californio" in the title of this thread. Sorry about that. My typing test was 50-2 mistakes. That was one of them. |

I'll fix that, I thought it was intentional, some form of deritive when you maybe had meant Californication or something, since Larry Flynt -> porn stuff, ect. Oh well. Consider it fixed.

I read this morning that there are now about 500 people signing on to run for governer now. I'm thinking that I might as well sign up to, everyone else is. But since I'm not a Californian, I was thinking......JSR......., now that's somebody I could back. How about it JSR, deadlines getting close, 5 PM this evening. And it's just $3,500 and 65 signatures, or 10,000 sigs. and it won't cost you anything. Count me in, for a sig. that is.

From CNN, this. If you were in this guys situation, would you really want Bill Clinton backing you? Maybe since I don't live in California, I shouldn't be looking at this negatively, but after all, I am from Arkansas. At any rate, what fine advice, that should pick his campaign up nicely.
