I sure hope someone can help me. I am ready to rip my hair out. I am attempting to play a new game (Secret Files: Tunguska), that requires Direct X 9 be installed to play. I do have Direct X 9c version 4.09.0000.0904 installed, but the game doesn't recognize it so asks to install it (the message says that the correct version of DirectX was not found, do I want to install it from the CD). I'm desperate, so say yes. The install fails from the CD and tells me to check the Windows System DX log and error file. Excerpts of the log/errors are shown below. I've also tried installing the latest Direct X again from Microsoft in case some files were missing. The installation doesn't complete. I have a Gateway GT5028 with XP Media Center Edition 2005, dual core processor, 1024 MP dual memory. Here are the errors from the DX log and Dxerror log. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

hey um, there are few things that i found could be wrong that i have encountered myself. One thing is that your video card may not be compatible with the game or your video card is not updated. I found the same problem when trying to play a pc game and it said that directx was not found when i had directx 9.0 on my comp. So i tried a few things and found that when i updated my video card, the game all of the sudden worked. Another thing i would do is run dxdiag and make sure everything is enabled. Hopefully this will help you.

I guess I might have to spring for a new video card since I have updated the driver. I thought I found somewhere the GeForce 6100 was DirectX 9 compliant, but maybe not...... So now I have to try and figure out what is a good video card, of which I know nothing!!! Thanks for the suggestion.

oh, well i know that card works with direct x lol so im not sure what else it would be, im sure you could search on the internet as you are probably not the first person who has had the problem and im sure other people have posted similar things
