good quality soundcard... suggestions?!?!

hi, i am interested in a good quality soundcard but do not know much about them at all unfortunately. Now i am hardly a pro audio engineer but am very picky about sound quality, ATM i am using my onboard, but i want better quality.

I am lookin for something with a substantial improvement over the onboard, but dont wont the best on the market.... because well, i cant afford it.

This is my current system:
AMD 4200X2 CPU
ASUS A8N32-SLi Deluxe MOBO
2Gb Ram
ASUS 7900GT GPU
1x200gb, 1x160gb both Seagate SATAII HDD
16x Dual Layer DVD Burner
all wrapped up in a sensual Thermaltake Tsunami

i currently use Logitech X530 5.1 Surround speakers and Sennheiser HD515 Headphones.

Any suggestions... im very open!

thanks, be patient
