whats Chipset/Lan/Sata Raid?
i downloaded all the nivida display and audio drivers for my motherboard and it works fine. But i also came across chipset/lan/sata raid drivers. What are these?should i download and install them?what does it do?

You can think of these as the drivers for the motherboard itself.

yeh ive already established that but what does downloading that chipset driver and installing really do?

Downloading them does nothing but creating a zip or an exe file on your hard drive.
Installing these drivers, well, installs (or may install) the drivers for core motherboard components like PCI or AGP controllers, USB controllers etc. And the LAN and the SATA controllers of course, because that's what written there. You know, just like installing the drivers for your video card, well, install drivers for your video card and installing drivers for your sound card, well, install drivers for your sound card. Or are you interested in the gory details of Windows driver architecture? Like how exactly drivers are installed on a Windows system? What files go where and what registry entries need to be created? What is the HAL? |
