Outlook 2003 Error

Hi,
I am facing a very strange problem. I have a HP pavillion pc with following configuration:
System : windows xp media centre editon ver 2002 service pack 2
Intel pentium 4 cpu 3.00Ghz with 3.00GB of Ram installed.

Problem
After finishing my work in outlook 2003 and closing the program I am not able to re run the microsoft Outlook 2003. On resatrting the program I don't see any message only the cursor turns into a hourglass and after a few minutes turns back to normal arrow shape. I have to restart the machine if I have to start the outlook 2003 program.
But if I click the tray icon of outlook 2003. I get the following message
"Outlook not responding. if you are using a Exchange server email account, you can cancel pending server request by clicking the outlook icon in the notification area, and then clicking cancel server request on the shortcut menu"

I have tried reinstalling the program, but no luck.

I don't understand anything of this. Can somebody please help me with this

this is typical of a corrupt PST file. the default location is
\Docs & Settings\your-login\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook

be very suspicous of any pst approaching 2.17 gb (it's a known problem)

then you don't have much stored there and the easiest thing is to start over
(yes, this means loosing the email, calendar and contacts data)

exit outlook
delete the PST file
launch Outlook

it will recreate or offer to create a new PST.

you can avoid total losses by EXPORTING your contacts, calendar data separately by exporting files name outlook.contacts.pst ... outlook.calendar.pst

if it fails in the future, you start over again and then IMPORT these files.

I highly recommend you avoid using OUTLOOK as your email reader, as it
just inflates the PST enormously AND is a securing risk in the first place.
