System specs
$1500 will get you a decent computer, but don't expect to play high end games on laptops unless you buy a gaming system (very expensive). Read computer shopper, pc world, and tomshardware (all online) for reviews.

Ensure your laptop is maxed out on RAM and has a fast hard drive (7200 rpm or better) before buying.

I would go for the Asus computer, but they are pretty close to being equal.

Hi-end performance eats batteries at light speed, so compare the mAh ratings;
bigger is better.
In general, the more cells in the battery the longer it will last.

higher rpm disks perform better, but eat batteries too.
