My monitor display has split in 2

I have searched the web to solve this problem, but I don't know what to call it. My display has split in half: the bottom is at the top, the top is at the bottom, and there is a black space in between. I tried the monitor on a different computer and it works fine.

Can anyone please help, as this is driving me nuts!
 
I haven't done anything. One day I got a warning that a usb device wasn't recognized, but I had not plugged anything in, so I have no idea where that came from.

What is on board graphics?
 
the monitor is already on the blue port.
I don't remember exactly what the error said and I don't remember if it was the same time as the screen malfunction, just that it didn't make sense at the time.

I have to sign off now, but I will check back tomorrow.

It could be that your graphics card is set to the wrong refresh rate for your monitor!
