You need a Shader Model 3 compliant graphics card for Bioshock

But the other specs of your computer are way too low for it too. Bioshock is a very demanding game

1.2 Minimum System Requirements
-------------------------------

CPU: P4 2.5 GHz single core.
System RAM: 1GB*
Video Card: Pixel Shader 3.0 compliant video card with 128 Meg Ram and floating point*frame buffer blending.
Sound Card: 100% DirectX 9.0c compatible sound card
Hard Drive: 7 GB

1.3 Recommended System Requirements
-----------------------------------

CPU: 3GHz dual core processor
System RAM: 2 GB
Video card:* Pixel Shader 3.0 compliant video card with 512 Ram (Nvidia(R) Geforce(R) 7900 GT or better)
Sound Card: 100% DirectX 9.0c compatible sound card
Hard Drive: 7 GB

Erm, just compare your specs to the minimum reqs? Your not even meeting them at one third!

Sorry to be so blunt but...

Ram, yours: 384MB, min = 1GB
CPU, yours: 866Mhz min = 2.5ghz
Integrated Intel graphics, enough said really

The VGA card alone (TNT2) makes sure Bioshock will not run on your second system either.

us.download.nvidia.com/Windows/169.21/169.21_forceware_winxp_32bit_english_whql.exe

Wouldn't work until I loaded these drivers, game looks great, actually playable on a 1.6GHZ machine on low quality graphics. But now my normal screen display is way too contrasty, messed with the monitor controls, but still can't get it back.

Edit: I found 'color correction' under the Monitor section of the Nvidia
Desktop manager, looks promising.

Last edited by hike1; 02-29-2008 at 07:20 PM.. Reason: fixed the contrast

JDSilver; Why are you telling people to "upgrade" to a 7 year old operating system?

At that in a thread helping users to get a game working in a thread for Windows 2000 users?

Acclamator; glad to hear it helped you

Hi Per,hi all,

good to hear Per's fix works so great on Bioshock .It would be nice if someone with the retail game could also test and help improving the Win2k-XP wrapper because we havent had the chance to test it with the game yet.
