Until the past couple of months, I've had no problems with iTunes. But I ran into some problems (forget exactly what) and ended up uninstalling Quicktime & iTunes. Now...I can install iTunes 6 but it won't interface with my iPods. EVERY VERSION OF ITUNES 7xxx causes a BSOD every single time I try to install it. I've been working with this for about two months now, since it wasn't a priority, but now I really want to be able to add & remove songs & movies to our family's iPods...
I'm using Windows XP Pro with SP2. The BSOD does not mention any specific driver and here are the specifics: Stop error 8E (c0000005, 804f28da, ed21f154, 00000000) By stumbling around the 'net the past few months, trying to figure this thing out, I found the instructions from cpc2004 on how to create a debuglog.txt file (THANK YOU!) So I'm attaching it to this post. First glance would seem to indicate a memory problem? But could it be possible that I never have problems booting up, installing other programs, running other programs (I'd consider myself a power user & my computer is normally on 24/7) and yet each & every single time I try to install iTunes 7 (any version of 7) that I get a BSOD 8E and yet it's still a memory problem? Thanks in advance for any help. BTW, I did download & install what appear to be the latest drivers for my chipset from this site http://www.driversplanet.com/device.php?id=101483 - made no difference... And I've run McAfee Virus scan (since my computer is on 24/7, I have the McAfee security center which runs in the background & updates automatically). I've even tried closing it down & installing iTunes 7xxx & still get BSOD. Last edited by Silly Rabbit; 09-10-2007 at 07:18 PM.. Reason: merge |

See if removing Folder Lock does anything. It's known to cause problems. Post some more logs if it continues to crash.

Well, I'll be darned. That was exactly it! I swear I've spent ~10 hours in the past couple of months dinking with this (not to mention the countless BSODs!)
Thank you SO much! Take your pick: You Da Man! Smooches (I'm a girl!) Here I thought I was being so diligent, since I have some documents & images that contain sensitive data. I was concerned if someone walked off with my PC... Is there any way to peacefully co-exist with Folder Lock? Thanks again, SO MUCH! |
