Hi i am having this problem with my computer and it is really annoying me.
I just purchased a new motherboard a ASUS p5K
The problem that i am having is that evry time i listen to music randmly there are glitches like pauses and the sound sometimes gets robotic or goes slow motion.
Also when i turn my computer on the first program i open dont matter which one it is the computer goes really slow for about 10 minutes, the mouse runs like slow motion.

does any one have an idea what might be causing this. =(

Have you tried a virus scan?

yes matter a fact i formated my whole hard drive. re installed windows still the same thing.

I would take out one piece of hardware at a time, and put a "known working component" in it's place and root this out. Problem is you may not have all these parts at your disposal to run the tests. That is the way I find out what is wrong with a machine. It's certainly a strange problem. Are you running Vista? Sometimes Vista will spend a few minutes downloading drivers. I don't know why it does this, but mine does. Check everything. Good Luck.

i had similar issues with my PC .. Did the "method" mentioned above "known working component" by pdyckman@comcas and found that it was my RAM... was using at the time 4x512MB (2xKingston and 2xTwinmos).. since the Twinmos was the "upgrade RAM", i removed it and since then all is fine..
Maybe it was incompatibility, because the Twinmos is installed on another PC and has no problems...
Try a single DIMM and see how that goes.... by the looks of it you are using Dual channel , you can also try single (in the BIOS)..

run memtest 86+ booted from a floppy or CD.
test your PSU with a tester tool and a multimeter.
If you suspect ram, read the upgrading ram guide the guide forum.
