You could change the parts / recommend different stuff, Make sure it'll work, I don't want to be sending back parts because on Christmas it'll take years to get the parts back

all of that top of the line stuff and you skimped on the processor?

you could EASILY for only maybe 20 dollars more skip to the amd 5600 and get a 2.8 instead of a 2.6 ghz processor. easily. but personally despite the price, i'd go with at least the amd 6000+. 3.0 ghz is happy fun times.

but otherwise just about everything else is top notch. if you can find one, replace the graphics chip with a 512mb 8800gt instead of the gts 640mb. it offers better performance for 100 dollars less.

that think will be amazing. i wish i could afford the case and power supply, let alone the hard drive on top of it all. but otherwise, you built a computer stunningly similar to the one i'm trying to put together.

the higher the gigahertz the better. if you want to overclock your system, then an amd 5600+ would suit you. the one to overclock like crazy lately was the amd 5000+ brisbane unlocked model. but the 5600+ is supposedly better to overclock now.

if you don't feel like overclocking, then stick with the amd 6000+ or a better model like the amd 6400+.

beware however. this model does NOT come with a standard heatsink and fan. so you'll have to buy a second aftermarket cooler to cool the cpu. which is why i'd stick with the 6000+. it comes with the fan and heatsink and it's 3.0 ghz which is pretty awesome as it is.

so far, everything else looks good in terms of compatibility.

as for the 8800gt, if you can find one, it's cheaper than the 8800gts and performs better. maybe around christmas time they will have it in stock. but they're out at the moment. i have a few models on auto-notify. so if they come in i'll tell you. otherwise, you're on your own. the 8800gts is a fine model though. so you don't have to switch if you don't want to. i'm only suggesting the gt because it's cheaper and for the aforementioned reasons.

was that mobo i showed you satisfactory, or are you still in need of finding some good parts?

i agree with link as far as the GT is concerned..building my own and the GT has great hype and it is cheaper than the GTS and they run just as good.

Also the PSU, i have the same one

in many cases it runs BETTER . the gt actually performs better than the 640 megabyte model of the gts. and it performs very closely to the 8800 ultra. it's right in between. and if you overclock the gt, you can overtake both in many cases. BUT, be careful because that card generates a good bit of heat, so it will require a good case that has excellent cooling, or an aftermarket cooler.

Well the case im getting says it has like 5-6 fans and is pretty big / spaced so nothing will bleed heat into others


My friends say I should probably get a ASUS Striker / LGA 775 ( Intel ) processor instead of that mobo / processor, I looked at the striker and about 30% of the people had lots of problems with it...

Could someone get a better mobo though? I personally don't like MicroATX very much

it's very difficult to find a full atx that doesn't have serious issues. all of the motherboards i looked at had something stupid wrong with it such as LOTS of DOA mobos, poor driver support, or parts of the motherboard being broken on arrival. all kinds of weird and stupid little quirks. it would seem that even though you're not a fan of micro atx, it might be your best solution unless you'd rather take a chance with something that will very likely be broken when you get it.

Also, It could be a AMD / Intel board, I don't care aslong as you get a processor / processor heatsink that'll work for it i'll be all good

I personally prefer AMD processors though, but intel is good enough

I was thinking of the ASUS striker for awhile, it looks like a big enough board if I feel like SLI or something

well...i did a LOT more looking

i've noticed that on every motherboard review, there are at least two or three that say "don't buy from this vendor. pick another one." then i went to another one and found more of those kinds of posts. it's just a big vicious circle. i'd say pick one and go with it.

i found an ABIT motherboard. full atx. and it has decent specifications.

only 1 or 2 people shouting about ABIT being not worth your time. as compared to like...7 or more for another vendor.

the current bios for ABIT motherboards isn't the greatest version in the world, but that could very easily be solved when ABIT updates the bios. considering, i think it will be a decent full atx board for you.

and it's still AMD. i'm an AMD fan as well. i know intel is better, but their crap is expensive. amd is decent anyway. so it's not like it makes a gigantic difference anyhow.

the dimensions on it are 12" x 9.6", and there are 2 pci e 16x slots for if you feel like going sli. it's a bit on the expensive side. about 110 dollars with shipping and stuff all told. but at least you'll be getting a decent quality board with the specs you want.

It looks pretty good and all the reviews ( negative ones ) are about the mobo being very picky about the ram, but Im sure the ones I got will work since they are DDR2 800 mhz

i was sorta looking at that one too. but i'm only leary about it because i thought what they meant by "picky" was brand related. i was afraid that maybe it would reject g skill, and accept crucial, or reject crucial, and accept corsair or something stupid like that.

but, if you're confident enough about that, then i'd go with that motherboard. after all, there were a LOT of positive reviews despite some of the negatives. its just the price thats a little high. but with any luck, black friday will put that worry to rest.

I think that all the newegg items that have some awards would go down for BF, it seems logical that they'll want to put down the better items for sale instead of some cheap nVidia 6200 pci card

lookin sharp i have to say. that's a gaming rig if i ever saw one. that thing will tear any game or any task you give it a new bum hole.

i'll see if i can dig up anything fun for my rig for black friday too.

i can only dream of having a pc that good. mine will have a few spots where it bests yours. mainly the graphics chip, and i plan on throwing in at least 4 gigs of RAM. but your processor, psu, and case will be better than mine.

TimeParodoX, I have pretty much that same motherboard, except its not got wireless. I don't think you will have much trouble with memory on it. I have put to different brands in mine and they both have worked. They are, A-Data and OCZ. I think that the memory you picked out on yours should work great.
