It's a Linksys WRT54G

Its a Linksys WRT54G. It was working fine with the laptop under Vista, But It had othe issues with Vista and Excel and print issues. I was asked to deload it with XP SP2.

Yes the Laptop shows the blue wireless network icon just to the bottom left of the touch pad.

If it isn't lit you need to enable the wireless. Function key + F2
The wireless ICon is on, and I tried the Function key + F2

It toggles the Icon On / Off... Its on!

Still Nothing.

What exactly does the wireless do? Can you search for networks?

Confirm/check the wireless adapter
  1. Click Control Panel -> Network Connectons. You'll see a list of network connections on your computer. There should be one wireless connection listed.
  2. Right click on entry for your wireless connection and you'll get its context menu which should include an item View Available Wireless Networks. Left click to select that item
  3. You should get a window displaying all wireless networks detected. Do you get that window?
You'll find quick install guide, manuals, top problems/solutions at the linksys support site for your router here
My advice when setting up a wireless network, is always Start Simple! (i.e. start out by turning off all wireless encryption, MAC address filtering, etc.) Once you verify you can establish simple network connectivity to an unencrypted/unfiltered wireless network, then and only then start adding the various encryption and filtering options. Otherwise, you'll be struggling to localize and pinpoint just where your problem is

If still having problems, post back

Pilot-leo: Is not 100% clear who your last post was addressed tp nor why you want to work through private conversation.

Everyone here donates their time (when they have time).. So between varying times betwen yourself and all the people that may be able and available to help plus any one person could be on the forum frequently... or decide not be on the forums a while

Should be best to continue in one of the forum threads

My last message was addressed to anyone who has a gateway ml3109 and was successful in downloading and getting the drivers to work.
The main reason why I prefer a private chat or private convo is because the response time is quicker, it's jus my personal preference.

Hmmm, i still don't understand how to do some of it...
On the robbray site, i have only understood how to download and get the driver running for the realtek link, my main goal right now is to get the internet working so I could use the laptop to find drivers easier. Can someone tell me what to do exactly please?

If you've downloaded the Realtek Driver then you just have to configure your settings for your Router or Modem.

Go to the first download site i linked (Gateway Site) and go down to the Driver "Realtek Wireless Network Driver" download that and then configure your computer to connect to the router again.

Actually I have fixed two of the drivers but one more came up, Modem Device on High Definition Audio Bus and SM Bus Controller, so that makes two more drivers to fix, do you think you can help me?

Modem driver: http://downloads.emachines.com/drive...70-001-001.exe
(from woody1191 link)

By the way, you have done the chipset driver I hope: http://downloads.emachines.com/drive...71-001-001.exe
This must be done before any other driver is installed. (sometimes it works after too)
