AOE II was pretty much all I used to play till I bought a new desktop back in October with windows XP preinstalled. Right then I ran AOE II and it worked perfectly.
After about 2 months and various updates, security patches etc. that windows kept prompting me for I ran AOE II in Dec and the thing just goes blank. The screen turns black with only the mouse pointer there. I can't kill using CTRL-ALT-DEL because Empires2.icd will not end. I have to hardboot the computer.
I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the program to no avail.
Can anyone help out. Would really appreciate it.
Besides the windows updates I have installed:
Microsoft Office
Driver for cable modem
other small stuff
