WOW Trouble

Hello on WoW i play on Duratan and everything runs fine until i try to go in to a major city, like origrimmer, then the latency shoots up to the 8000-20000 range from the 100-300 range. Here are my computer specs

-Intel(R) Celeron(R) CPU 2.40GHz
-1.256 gb of RAM
-Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 2 (Build 2600)
-NVIDIA GeForce FX 5500 (GeForce FX 5500)
-Direct X 9.0c
-SoundMAX Integrated Digital Audio
-10.1 gb of free HD space(after downloading game)
-Broadcom 440x 10/100 intergrated controller

Also all Drivers are updated.

Please give advice on how to fix this.

System specs
So when u join an area, that is HEAVILY populated, ur comp slows down and u get Lag issues, right? That is normal, there is so many things to load, people and other stuff. Im surprised u dont get kicked off with a "disconnected" notice. I used to get those because my internet service people dont like people using all that bandwidth.

not many ways to fix it that i know of.. ISP may be able to give u more bandwidth, and maybe u should upgrade ur 5500, maybe like a 7800 or something. eveything will look better too and more FPS!!!
