i have this dell laptop that gave it to me and a dell model no. PP01L, input of 20V--3.5A, latitude C540/C640...and when i open it a screen appear that saying the set up was starting up..and other box appear that..it will need the windows explore home edition service pack 2 cd...and i got that cd when i put the cd and press ok nothing will happen what will be the source of it to solve this problem of my laptop and pls help me on this ASAP...thanks very much..God Speed on you....waithing for your help..

The Xp Home SP2 CD is not running

Firstly are you happy to do a clean install (ie does this laptop contain any user data)

If data backup is not required: (ie clean install)
Put the Xp Home SP2 CD in the drive
Restart the laptop
I believe it is F2 or DEL to get into system bios - press that
Confirm Startup is set for 1-CD and 2-HDD; 3 - doesn't matter
Save and exit

Press any key to start from CD should come up

when i open the laptop its just appear that the set up is starting up it need the windows xp home edition service pack 2 cd..when i insert the cd in the cd rom..and i pree ok its nothing will happen..how can i restart in a clean install..thanks for your reply i appreciated..godbless..

Did you follow the above steps ?

Is this an original Xp CD (bootable ?)
or are you just talking about a SP2 disc (Windows security updates only)
