My gf's laptop keeps freezing!!

Hi guys my gf is having some serious problems with her 4 month old dell inspiron 1521 laptop. It will just randomly freeze up or not even make it into windows properly. There has even been a crazy pixelated screen, where the resolution went down from 1080 to 800x600. I have read into other forum posts here looking for an answer and some ppl think that this could be related to a malfunctioning video card or something wrong with the BIOS. I am not am not awesome when it comes to hardware, but I am not illiterate either so please take it easy on me with the lingo =P

Some of her hardware profiles are:
ATI Radeon X1270
2 x AMD Turion 64 X2 Mobile Tech TL-56
hard drive: ST9160821AS ATA

P.S I have turned off her gfx card and it hasn't frozen yet.

Wow download says 104 MB
Release Date: 12/19/2007 (so maybe you have it already)

Please post back after using it for a while, with Gfx card disabled
Actually where did you disable it anyway ?

Actually if you check here:

under Diagnostics, there are a couple of tools to download
