Personally, I think the Lightning Z is ideal for people who don't want to bother with overclocking and tweaking. If you have the money, just plop in the card and you can be sure it will run at nearly the maximum performance you can achieve - no need for the standard-level overclocking to get another 3% performance. Hardcore overclockers might also be interested in this card due to its power input circuitry, VRM cooling, voltage measurement capability, and dual BIOS with LN2 support.
Very long triple-slot design might not fit all cases

The GTX 1080 Ti is well-established as one of the fastest graphics cards a consumer can buy, Titans aside. With initial performance leaks suggesting AMD won't be able to match Nvidia's current top-end with its Vega-based products, a flagship GTX 1080 Ti...
Although we're not altogether satisfied with MSI's pricing and availability, an otherwise pristine product is absolutely convincing. In the German version of our review, which went live back in August, the Lightning Z card earned a rare Editor's Choice award. It's that good. But we can no longer confer that honor with so many other 1080 Tis out there readily available under $800.
All of the above is amazing for an air-cooled video card, but then you look at the price tag. MSRP $849.99 is a lot to ask for (Street price of $870 at Newegg.). It's not the best situation, and it is an expensive video card. Here's the thing though,...
Limited to 3,000 units and costing almost £950, this is clearly a very niche product. Reserved solely for those into record breaking or with very deep wallets, this is a flagship graphics card through and through. It does absolutely everything right,...
Blimey. In our time with the GTX 1080 Ti we've spoken seemingly endlessly about how good it is, even if you buy a bog standard model. There is just so much performance on that Pascal GPU that a company would almost have to deliberately attempt to build a...
MSI offers a terrific card with the new Lightning Z, and we sure missed the Lightning series! It is properly built and oozes quality. Granted, it's a big dude alright. Tweaking performance is good, yet remains limited to whatever Nvidia dictates - and...
