The GeForce RTX 3070 offers uncompromising performance for 1440p gaming and even lets you run 4K in many titles, especially if you are willing to reduce details settings a bit. What also made waves during the initial launch is the competitive $500 MSRP, which is also the price point for NVIDIA's Founders Edition. It not only impresses with looks, but also runs very quietly and introduces the highly sought after fan-stop capability, which sets the bar high for custom designs.
Our editors hand-pick these products using a variety of criteria: they might be direct competitors targeting the same market segment, or they could be devices that are similar in size, performance, or feature sets.
When it comes to raw performance, the MSI RTX 3070 Gaming X Trio trades blows with its rivals, but does manage to edge a lead in the more demanding tasks. However, the fast it manages to stay significantly cooler and quieter while doing it, makes this a really fantastic piece of hardware for any PC gamer.
However, it's extremely cool, supremely quiet, and looks very nice with plenty of RGB lighting and that matte black Graphene backplate sets things off perfectly. It's RTX 2080 Ti performance for half the price you'd have paid just a month or so ago and wins our Gamers Choice award.
Performance-wise really, all cards released will be within a ~5% margin towards each other, so that can no longer be a decisive factor in the year 2020; however, this card is immediately at that upper threshold, tweaked for you. We can find little wrong with the Gaming X TRIO, absolutely recommended and even a top pick.

The MSI RTX 3070 Gaming X Trio is a great card. Its larger cooler allows it to hold a higher clock speed, but the results are nearly identical to the RTX 3070 Founders Edition. Instead, this is a card to look at for thermal headroom, good acoustics, and its unique style and customization potential.
If you are willing to wait and see what AMD will bring to the fight, I recommend doing so — it’s always a good idea to see what the competition has in store — but only if $579 is still within your price range. Either way, the RTX 3070 is a huge leap forward for gaming, and a great value for gamers that can afford it.
