The Finals

The Finals' best moments are measured in milliseconds, and the time spent in between them is always a rush.

This is why I feel queasy that The Finals' most distinctive visual flourish is a shower of coins. It's a stark reminder that the Finals' main concern, both thematically and semantically, is making money. And yes, most games are made with the hope of a financial payoff at the end. But I don't want to feel that desire from them while I'm playing. I want to be invested in your game's world, in its characters, in its tactics, in its meta, whatever you've got. I want it to be about more than the coins I can earn, the skins you can sell to me.

The Finals does a great job standing out from the competitive shooter crowd thanks to its fast-paced action, excellent environmental destruction, and gameshow-meets-squad shooter vibes. The way flying through the battlefield with a grappling hook or hulk-smashing through buildings mixes with its strict, objective-based modes is a breath of fresh air.

The Finals lets you partake in a televised game show where competitors fight for glory and money. Teams of three would partake in these Hunger Games and Gladiator inspired battles. In this show, teams would blow open vaults and then cash-out the contents in stations around the map, all while fighting off the other teams who aim to do the same.
